Web2Open Wrapup

A few weeks back I organized the Web2Open with my partner Sarah Milstein. Web2Open is an unconference that runs as part of the Web 2.0 Expo. We expanded on the standard open space ideas with some preplanned sessions, a new “invented” session format, and some hybrid sessions that mixed with the main conference program. Here’s what people had to say:

Speed Q&A
We took the idea of speed dating and brainstormed ideas for how to turn that into a session. What we came up with was speed Q&A where attendees got to quiz five luminaries in 8 minute blocks. Here’s the round-up:
A Successful Experiment
Kara Swisher on the “advertising, of course” business model
Clay Shirky on collective action
Matt Cutts on exploiting loopholes

Troll Whispering.
Sarah got some expert community managers together to talk about how to manage difficult personalities.
Discussion on the original announcement
A happy attendee
Moderation techniques as they apply to digital publics

Here are some of my notes on a session I organized on tips for small businesses.

A presentation from Justo Hidalgo on enterprise mashups.

Plus there was a ton of chatter on twitter.
